COLUMBIA, Mo. - Unbeaten near the midpoint of their season, the Missouri Tigers face their toughest challenge yet: A Saturday morning showdown with the storied Alabama Crimson Tide.
Both teams are fighting for a much-desired victory and to improve their college football playoff hopes. Mizzou (5-0) is ranked 14th and Alabama (4-1) is ranked 8th in the AP Top 25 College Football rankings.
Also on the line for Mizzou: A chance to snap a lengthy losing streak against Alabama.
Mizzou has dropped each of its last six head-to-head matchups and has not defeated the Crimson Tide since 1975, a half-century drought without a head-to-head win.
The Tigers last defeated Alabama on Sept. 8, 1975, a 20-7 road victory in Birmingham, not even the Crimson Tide's current home grounds in Tuscaloosa.
