CHARLOTTE (QUEEN CITY NEWS) -- A young man is dead after a crash Tuesday evening, according to the Charlotte Mecklenburg Police Department.

Just before 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 7, officers were called to the 5100 block of South Tryon Street for a crash involving a pedestrian. This is between Nations Ford Road and West Tyvola Road.

Officers say they arrived to find 23-year-old Darian Ivan Gueta-Macias lying in the road and a Lexus RX350 and its driver further down the road. Gueta-Macias was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries but passed away the next day.

Investigators believe Gueta-Macias was crossing the road outside of the crosswalk when the Lexus hit him.

A toxicology report is pending for Gueta-Macias. The driver of the Lexus was found not to be impaired or speed
