LIBERTY TOWNSHIP, Ohio (WTRF) — A 16-year-old boy was injured in what investigators believe was an accidental shooting Wednesday night in Butler County, according to the sheriff’s office.

Sheriff Richard K. Jones said deputies were called around 9 p.m. Wednesday to the 6900 block of Dutchland Parkway after receiving reports of a juvenile with a gunshot wound.

The sheriff’s office said the teen and two friends were walking from the Lakota Point Townhomes through a field behind Woodland Elementary School toward a nearby Kroger when the shooting occurred.

The bullet struck the teen from an unknown direction.

His friends carried him to the school parking lot, where emergency crews took him to UC West Chester Hospital.

Authorities said his injuries are not life-threatening.
