A home in west suburban Hanover Park was "significantly" damaged after a car drove off the road and slammed into the residence, with at least two people transported to a nearby hospital.

According to Deputy Police Chief Victor DiVito, a sedan driving on Woodlake Drive left the roadway and crashed into the house, "causing significant structural damage."

Photos and video show a grey car through the side of a home. Wood, insulation and other structural materials were exposed and strewn about, partly covering the front of the car. Debris from items inside the home could be seen scattered around.

The driver and a resident of the home were transported to a nearby hospital with non-life threatening injuries, police added.

As of 12 p.m., the scene remained active.
