COLUMBIA, S.C. (WIS) - A Midlands man recently took home a half-million-dollar prize after winning via a scratch-off ticket.

The South Carolina Education Lottery said a Red Hot Bonus ticket bought at the City Fuel & Food on Bush River Road in Columbia won $500,000.

The lucky winner told lottery officials he plans to buy his wife a new car with the winnings.

“It was a life-changing experience,” he said. “I’m still in shock.”

As for himself, the winner said he is “getting a used, cheap car to drive.”

City Fuel & Food in Columbia received a $5,000 commission for selling the winning ticket.
