Joplin has a new marijuana dispensary. There are now a half dozen dispensaries operating in the Joplin market.

The Dispensary of Joplin opened about a month ago in a small storefront in the Southside Shopping Mall, 2914 E. 32nd St. This is a family-owned business in which two brothers, who were growers, decided to open their own shop. I think they refer to this in the business world as vertical integration. Online reviews have been favorable in terms of service and price, suggesting that more competition in the market could be leading to lower prices. A shop spokeswoman told me they are offering a gram of marijuana for $4 and an eighth for $12. ×
