A New Hampshire man was arrested Thursday on accusations he attacked a woman in what police described as a random attack on a stranger.

Jonathan Shaw, 27, is facing assault charges after an attack in Concord, New Hampshire, according to police.

Investigators said officers first met up with the victim on Bridge Street early Thursday morning. She told them that a man had grabbed her, covering her mouth and nose and hampering her breathing. She bit his finger and forced him to let go. Then, she said, he hit her in the face and threw her to the ground.

Shaw was arrested later the same day. He was charged with second-degree assault and simple assault.
