Gov. Kathy Hochul on Friday urged New Yorkers to prepare for a strong coastal storm that is forecast to impact parts of the city during Columbus Day weekend.
The storm, which is expected to begin forming Saturday off the coast of the Carolinas, will gain strength as it travels up the mid-Atlantic coast toward southern New England. It is expected to bring heavy rain, strong winds and the potential for coastal flooding across downstate New York.
Hochul is “urging New Yorkers to closely monitor their local forecasts, prepare their households accordingly and to use caution if traveling in impacted areas this weekend,” according to a press release.
