LAS VEGAS (KLAS) -- Las Vegas police plan to have extra officers patrolling the valley for the rest of the month to enhance pedestrian safety.
From Oct. 13 to Oct. 31, law enforcement agencies statewide will join forces to heighten the enforcement of the state's pedestrian safety laws using extra traffic patrol officers.
The enforcement initiative was announced just hours after a man was killed after he was hit by a vehicle in the northwest valley, and another pedestrian was taken to a hospital with life-threatening injuries in a separate crash.
