BLOOMINGTON, Ill. (WMBD) -- The McLean County Emergency Management Agency announced an extension to the burn ban in the county on Friday.
Due to drought conditions across the county and minimal chance of rainfall, the ban was extended through Oct. 17, a McLean County Emergency Management Agency news release said.
The ban helps reduce the chance of field or wildfire spreading, which has increased due to the dry conditions that can make even small controlled burns dangerous if they spread.
While the ban is in effect, all residential and agricultural burning is prohibited. This includes burning leaves, brush, yard waste and other natural or combustible materials.
