HORNELL, N.Y. (WETM) – The City of Hornell has announced that hydrant flushing will take place within the city and the surrounding areas beginning on Saturday.

From Saturday, Oct. 11, through Friday, Oct. 17, the city will flush the hydrants in the Town of Hornellsville, the Village of North Hornell and the City of Hornell. Hydrant flushing will take place between the hours of 11 p.m. and 7 a.m. for the duration of the week.

While flushing is taking place, residents are reminded not to wash clothes during flushing hours and to check their water for discoloration before they use it. Residents who experience water discoloration are instructed to let their cold water run until the color clears.
