Lifelong Pittsburgh-area resident and motorcycle enthusiast Shawn Hornyak was sick and tired of the “crappy” biker gear clogging his Instagram feed — the dirt-cheap shirts made in China, he said, and the AI-generated designs that wouldn’t last three cycles in a washing machine.
“I decided to do something about it because I knew I could do something better,” he said.
And so Mr. Hornyak is launching his own premium motorcycle gear and apparel company, Steel Rippers, at Penn Brewery on the North Side Saturday afternoon.
Mr. Hornyak, known as “Bagger Shawn” in the biker community, grew up riding Harley-Davidson motorcycles in Port Vue and now lives in the Strip District.
