State police on Friday filed attempted homicide charges against Stanley West, the man accused of gunning down a Robinson hotel manager and later opening fire on detectives in Pittsburgh.

Mr. West, 37, is charged with two counts each of attempted homicide, aggravated assault and assault of a law enforcement officer. The charges are in connection with the shootout in an East Hills housing complex Oct. 3.

Authorities have said Mr. West’s trail of violence began outside the Pittsburgh Motel on Steubenville Pike just before 1 p.m. He’s accused of shooting a woman in her vehicle while her young son was in the car with her.
