PEORIA HEIGHTS, Ill. (WMBD) -- A vote to contract with the city of Peoria Fire Department for certain emergency response calls was followed by a tense back-and-forth between a trustee and the now former Interim Fire Chief.
After the decision was final and Mayor Matt Wigginton broke a 3-3 tie to confirm the contract, Tony Ardis, who helmed the fire department for four months as Interim Chief, sent an email to some trustees, making clear what he thought of the vote.
"I sent an email to a couple of the trustees, voicing my interpretation of what their vote meant," Ardis said. "Again, my interpretation only, and I made it clear that I was going to share my interpretation with the firefighters of how I viewed their vote."
Ardis has consistently voiced how much he cares about firefighter and
