Lin-Manuel Miranda had an urgent call to make.

It was intermission at the Linda Gross Theater in Chelsea, during "Buena Vista Social Club's" off-Broadway run from November 2023 to January 2024. Lin-Manuel Miranda attended the show because he had a lot of friends in the company. As the creator of "In the Heights," "I know every Latin performer who's working," he says with a laugh.

"I was there to support my friends, and I left being like, an evangelist for the show," he adds.

So, halfway through the performance, he dialed the phone and called his dad.

"I was like, 'This is really special,'" the "Hamilton" creator recalls saying.
