OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) - A lawsuit originally filed in January 2022 in an attempt to halt the mask mandate put in place in Omaha by the Douglas County Health Director has officially run its course.

The lawsuit was dismissed in April 2022 after Omaha put a city ordinance in place to limit the powers of the health director, prompting the plaintiffs to voluntarily dismiss the case without prejudice, meaning the claim could be brought again.

“I’m not claiming that masks are going to end the pandemic or stop the pandemic, but it’s going to slow it down to give my brothers and sisters in health care the breathing room they need to take care of all of you,” Dr. Huse said at the time.
