ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) - Volunteers were busy Friday setting up for the 55th Atlanta Pride Festival and Parade.

Things kick off Saturday morning at 10 a.m. There will be food, good live music, and activities. This year’s theme is “Rooted in resistance.”

The theme speaks to all that the LGBTQ+ community has been through and the optimism they have for the future.

“It is definitely a callback to our history and the roots of pride in general which are protest and fighting for our equality and our rights,” said Steven Igarashi, director of communications, Atlanta Pride.

Organizers said they welcome people of all backgrounds to come and celebrate with them this weekend.
