Steve Mellen of Duxbury was navigating an early end of the year for his 42-foot boat, "Water Mellen."
"I believe in safety, and for every storm," Mellen said. "Usually a little bit later, but with the storms coming up, I took it out early."
Steve Nee of Kingston was doing the same.
"If I left it in, it could get damaged over the next week," he said. "And then, next thing you know, it'll be in November, and I'll be doing this on a freezing cold day instead of a beautiful day."
