STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — The coastal storm forecast to impact New York City on Sunday and Monday is slated to bring gusty winds, rain and the threat of coastal flooding .

As previously reported, coastal flooding is a major concern for those coastal communities from the Battery in Manhattan down south, including the east shore of Staten Island.

“It’s going to be a very prolonged event, hours and hours and hours, multiple high tide cycles of this wind coming out of the east or northeast just pounding on the coastline, so we do expect major flooding, especially in New Jersey,” Alex DaSilva, lead hurricane expert with AccuWeather , told the Advance/SILive.com.
