CONNECTICUT, USA — For years, scammers have used phishing emails to turn consumers into victims, as they steal their personal and financial information.
“Phishing” is a scam in which the sender delivers a message pretending to be a well-known figure or organization, urgently demands immediate action and sends potential victims a link to complete it.
The link is a gateway for the scammer to steal information or download harmful malware to a device.
Now, these phishing emails have taken a new turn.
In Connecticut, the Department of Consumer Protection and Department of Banking issued a warning Friday regarding scammers who are impersonating customer support teams for financial services companies.
