CONNECTICUT, USA —
A new campsite has been built along the Connecticut River’s paddlers trail, hoping to close an almost 30-mile gap between two resting points during a canoeing trip.
Two local organizations assisted with building the campsite and are hoping it attracts more people to use the river for paddling.
Rhea Drozdenko says for years, people have expressed concerns about there not being a proper rest stop between Enfield’s King’s Island and the River Highlands State Park in Cromwell.
"I feel like there has been a sort of worry,” said Drozdenko. “Many of them say, ‘How are we going to manage this stretch?’ Some think to themselves are they going to have to pull out somewhere and then walk to a hotel.”
