PUUNENE (HawaiiNewsNow) - The Maui Humane Society announced on social media Friday that approximately 20 dogs may be euthanized by the end of the month if they are not adopted.
The shelter said that it can no longer safely house the number of animals in its care.
“Our shelter population has exceeded what is safe and sustainable,” said the post. “When we exceed that threshold, animals suffer.
“Healthy animals become sick, sick animals struggle to recover, and stressed animals are increasingly difficult to calm,” it added.
