HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - As the federal government shutdown continues into another week, two of Oahu’s historic sites will remain open to visitors.
The Pearl Harbor National Memorial stayed open due to partner and donor support, according to Pacific Historic Parks (PHP).
The state manages the Diamond Head State Monument and is not impacted by the federal shutdown.
PHP added two new visitor kiosks at Diamond Head, which aim to provide information and on-site support.
The organization said it also plans to expand operating hours to make the park more accessible to the public.
The Diamond Head State Monument is open daily from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Entry and parking registration are required for nonresidents.
The Pearl Harbor National Memorial is open daily from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.
