MARION — On the job, local police and fire work together to ensure the safety of the community they are sworn to protect. On the field, however, it'll be an all-out slugfest for first responder supremacy.

The first annual Battle of the Badges softball game will pit the Marion Police Department and Marion Fire Department in a friendly competition at 6 p.m. Saturday at Mtn Dew Park. Admission to the event is $10.
