TEMPE, Ariz. — Tempe police said they have heard citizens' concerns about dangerous driving and are taking action.

An example: A Corvette driver recorded himself hitting 140 mph on the Mill Avenue bridge, police said. The same driver had been reported to police "several times" for reckless driving and loud noise, Tempe police said.

Officers attempted to pull the driver over but he "raced off and blew through red lights," police said.

The car was seen speeding again the next day, officials said, and evaded police for a second time. This time, though, police were able to use a grappler to stop the driver.

The driver was arrested for felony flight, police said, and the Corvette was impounded.
