Buffalo's newest major streetscape project is poised to get underway, as the city is now soliciting contractor bids for its Middle Main Street transformation.

The Department of Public Works is seeking proposals for the "complete streets" transformation of Main Street from just north of Goodell Street in downtown Buffalo to Kensington Avenue, just north of Canisius University and across from Sisters of Charity Hospital.

That's further than the original plan, which encompassed Main from Goodell to Ferry Street, because the city received a grant from the Federal Highway Administration to support the extension.
