Former Methodist church halls in North Ormesby have seen planning permission refused after works had already been carried out. Following a number of objections from local residents, plans were hauled in front of members of Middlesbrough ’s planning committee.
Retrospective permission was sought for the replacement of the roof, windows and doors of the halls, located on Derwent Street, which is off of Kings Road. Andy Glossop, from the council's planning department, highlighted that many concerns raised could not be given weight in the decision making of councillors.
