A man who was on the lam for nearly three years after not showing up to his Sarnia drug trafficking trial finally has been arrested and on Thursday was sentenced to 5 1/2 years in prison.
Je Vang, 49, from Kitchener, and his wife and surety, Thao Cha, 55, were both arrested while sitting in a car outside an apartment complex on Wellington Street in Sarnia on April 10, 2021. An officer, who learned the car had been reported stolen in Kitchener-Waterloo, discovered about 29 grams of suspected red fentanyl, approximately 25 grams of methamphetamine, 1.2 grams of cocaine, and a 30-centimetre sword in the car, Sarnia police said at the time.
