The price of development in Sarnia could be falling soon.

City development charges on new construction go towards municipal infrastructure costs for things like roads and sewers, needed to support new development like housing.

Sarnia is proposing a 17 per cent drop, pending council approval in November, to charges for builds in Development Area 2 – a 570-hectare (1,408-acre) area slated for significant development between London and Confederation lines, and Modeland and Blackwell Side roads, a city report says.

Development charges elsewhere in the city would fall about 12 per cent with the changes.
