A rattlesnake bit a student Friday afternoon on the playground at Gerald Ford Elementary School in Indian Wells during lunch recess.

Staff immediately called 911 and brought the injured student and another student who was nearby to the office as a precaution. Emergency medical crews quickly arrived, evaluated both students and transported one to a local hospital, according to Desert Sands Unified School District.
