LAREDO, Tex. (KGNS) - Tomas Alejandro Aguilar is the man accused of stabbing Oscar Bedarte to death in his home on Iturbide Street back in March of 2022.

Now, Aguilar will be receiving a plea deal.

On September 18, 2025, Aguilar’s attorney informed the court that an agreement had been reached.

The plea would have Aguilar serve 33 years in the Texas Department of Criminal Justice.

At that hearing, Aguilar’s attorney requested that sentencing be scheduled at a later date to give Aguilar time to make arrangements before surrendering.

The next hearing will be Tuesday, October 14, at 11 a.m. at the 341st District Court.

Bedarte was 42 years old and working as a security guard at the time of his death.

It is still unclear why Aguilar allegedly stabbed Bedarte while he slept.
