INDEPENDENCE, Mo. (KCTV) - In an initiative to reduce dangerous and impaired driving, the Independence Police Department issued nearly 90 citations overnight Friday into Saturday.
IPD said 16 officers were set up on major roadways starting around 7 p.m. on Oct. 10. Throughout the course of the night, they pulled over 78 vehicles and found 87 violations. Seven people were arrested, three for DWI.
Additionally, officers were involved in three chases, and they helped the Missouri State Highway Patrol with a fourth.
After one of the chases, a driver was arrested for felony fleeing. Two of the driver’s passengers were arrested on felony weapons and narcotics charges.
Another chase involved a stolen vehicle and ended with more felony charges, IPD said.
