GAINES TWP., MI — An Owosso woman was killed in a crash while standing by the side of a road in Gaines Township, police say.

At about 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 9, Michigan State Police troopers responded to a report of a woman who was struck by a pickup truck on the side of Grand Blanc Road near Van Vleet Road.

A preliminary investigation revealed a Chevrolet Silverado driven by a 72-year-old Corunna man struck the 50-year-old Owosso woman while she was standing outside a stopped vehicle.

The Owosso woman died at the scene of the crash, police said. Police did not identify the woman.

The man driving the Silverado was not injured in the crash, police say.

Police do not believe drug or alcohol were factors in the crash, which remains under investigation.
