JUNIPER DUNE, Wash. – Several fire districts responded to Juniper Dune after a lantern exploded and caused a fire.

The fire was first reported at 6:48 p.m. on October 10 to Franklin County Fire District 3, which said that the caller reported a lantern malfunctioned and caused the fire.

Walla Walla County Fire District 5 and Franklin COunty Fire District 5 also requested assistance at the fire.

Once crews arrived, they quickly contained the fire. The next morning, crews turned the scene over to the Bureau of Land Management Fire, who stayed on the scene throughout the day.

The Franklin County Fire District 3 asked that visitors to Juniper Dunes stay safe and, if a fire is seen, avoid the fire.
