Diane Keaton died on Oct. 11 at age 79, according to reports from The New York Times and People .

Her death sent shockwaves across America, especially as just last December, she had released her debut holiday song “First Christmas.” Keaton’s passing also came as a surprise to those close to her, with a friend of Keaton telling People , “It was so unexpected, especially for someone with such strength and spirit.”
