A powerful, slow-moving coastal low is the headline through Sunday for Eastern North Carolina. The low is deepening just to our south and will either grind to a halt offshore or wobble near the coast into Sunday before lifting out. Either way, the message is the same: tonight into Sunday is the peak for wind, rain, coastal flooding, and dangerous surf.

This Evening & Tonight (Peak Impacts Develop):

A solid rain shield is across ENC. As pressure falls sharpen to our south this evening, northeast winds ramp quickly, first Crystal Coast/southern OBX, then northward overnight. Wind Advisories are expanded around the Pamlico and Albemarle Sounds; communities exposed to long NE fetch can see 50–60 mph gusts, especially OBX south of Oregon Inlet and Cedar Island.
