A Hersheypark ride’s safety functions worked as intended when it stopped mid-ride in response to a foreign object being lodged beneath its wheel, a park spokesperson said.

A guest riding the Wild Mouse Saturday afternoon dropped a sweatshirt from their car, which became lodged beneath the wheel of the ride vehicle, according to Hershey Entertainment & Resorts Director of PR Quinn Bryner.

The ride’s safety systems brought it to a controlled stop, Bryner said. The park maintenance team then removed the sweatshirt from the wheel assembly while escorting guests from the ride.

Once the obstruction was cleared, the ride returned to the station, Bryner said.
