ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – The City of Albuquerque awarded people Saturday morning on how much litter they could clean up. The Dash for the Trash event kicked off Saturday morning at 9:00 a.m. along the Valle De Atrisco Trail near Central.
Participants could run, walk, or jog the trail, picking up as much trash as possible along the way. The city is noting the importance of not only enjoying a popular area, but also how the community can get involved in maintaining it.
"It's just a fantastic way to not only show your community pride but also give something back at the same time," said Alex Bukoski with the city's Solid Waste Department. The department says each bag of trash was measured to see who collected the most and who covered the most distance, with the top teams earning prizes.
