Western Oregon beat Eastern New Mexico 21-18 Saturday in Portales, New Mexico, overcoming an early deficit with 21 unanswered points.

The Greyhounds scored with 1:22 left, but the Wolves hung on to move to 3-2 overall and 3-1 in NCAA Division II Lone Star Conference play.

Now the biggest challenge of the season is here for the Wolves, who have won their first three games at home.

It’s unbeaten Texas Permian Basin (5-0, 3-0 Lone Star) coming to McArthur Field in Monmouth for the Wolves’ homecoming game, 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 18. Western Oregon is third in standings; Central Washington is second at 4-1, 3-0.

The Wolves trailed at Eastern New Mexico 10-0 early, but rallied with two TD runs by quarterback Jordan McCarty (five and 11 yards) and one by Carson Workman (one yard).
