The Auburn coach was understandably angry and confused after a controversial fumble call late in the first half cost his team a touchdown and a three-score lead. On-field officials ruled that Tigers quarterback Jackson Arnold fumbled — and Georgia recovered — just before he crossed the goal-line late in the first half, a call upheld after a lengthy replay review.

Auburn led 10-0 at the time, and could have been up 17-0 after a touchdown and an extra point with 1:32 left in the half. Instead, Georgia got the ball on the 1-yard line, and drove for a field goal that made the score 10-3 at halftime.
