SLIDELL, La. — Voters in Slidell elected Police Chief Randy Fandal in a special election to finish the term of former WWL Louisiana was the first to call the race.
Fandal lead with 71.79% while Interim Mayor Bill Borchert had 28.21 %.
"My plan is to move the city forward and I'm going to start Monday," Fandal said.
He said he uses Slidell Police Department as an example of public trust. "This community stepped up, they trust everything we do, and that's because we're transparent and we show the people everything we do," he said.
About 4,860 residents placed votes.
According to the final results, Fandal received 3,489 votes, while Borchert received 1,371.
