COLUMBIA — Everyone, especially those running for governor, agrees prosecuting the sexual abuse of children is an overwhelmingly good thing.

Which is why it’s not surprising the subject has become central to an emerging political duel between Republican governor candidates Alan Wilson and Nancy Mace. The Republican congresswoman’s messaging has become rife with accusations that Wilson, as the sitting attorney general, is protecting the accused pedophiles his office is tasked with prosecuting.
