John Cena’s final match outside of the US has been celebrated as a love letter to wrestling as the retiring WWE superstar and opponent AJ Styles turned their contest into an emotional tribute to current and former greats.
More than 13,000 fans packed RAC Arena for the occasion and the venue was a sea of gold after the vast majority of the crowd bought Cena’s farewell Australian t-shirt.
Even Cena was blown away by what he saw when his music hit and he walked into the venue.
“This is crazy. I haven’t seen something like this!” he said to the camera.
WWE chief content officer Triple H was also stunned by the way Perth’s fans had celebrated Cena as he won his 100th Premium Live Event match.
