MEDINA, Ohio – Back in January, the community came together to provide holiday cheer to 200 hurricane victims from North Carolina. Those efforts have been recognized on a national level as Reader’s Digest has named Medina one of five of The Nicest Places in America for 2025.

The Promise of Christmas, an initiative led by Mark and Dana Klaus, owners of Castle Noel, brought victims of Hurricane Helene who had lost their homes and many of their material possessions to Medina Jan. 10-12 for a belated holiday celebration.

Countless volunteers and organizations including Castle Noel, the city, Main Street Medina, the Medina County Convention and Visitors Bureau and the Greater Medina Chamber of Commerce came together to recreate Medina’s Christmas celebration in January. North Carolina visitor
