New Delhi, Oct 12: Union Minister Suresh Gopi announced on Sunday his intention to step down from his ministerial role, recommending BJP’s newly elected Rajya Sabha member C Sadanandan Master as his successor in the central cabinet.

Speaking at a gathering attended by party workers and Sadanandan himself, Gopi hailed the latter’s Rajya Sabha nomination as a landmark moment for northern Kannur politics.

“With all sincerity, I say Sadanandan Master should replace me as a union minister. This will open a new chapter in Kerala’s political history,” Gopi stated.

Currently serving as the Minister of State for Petroleum and Tourism, Gopi expressed hope that Sadanandan’s parliamentary office would soon be elevated to a ministerial position.
