GEORGETOWN, S.C. (WCBD) – Significant flooding impacted Georgetown and surrounding coastal communities Sunday morning.

Emergency officials began reporting rising water Sunday morning, which was prompted by rain and gusty winds associated with a coastal storm and high tide.

Residents told News 2 that water had entered several stores on Front Street and the Walmart on N Raser Street during low tide.

Georgetown County Emergency Management also reported numerous flooded roadways and stranded vehicles.

A Flash Flood Warning was issued for Georgetown until 10 a.m. However, it was extended until 11 a.m., and a flood advisory was issued for northeastern Georgetown County until 12:30 p.m.

High tide is expected around 1 p.m. Sunday.
