COLUMBIA, S.C. — Showers have been persistent throughout the region, with the heaviest rainfall occurring east of I-95 and down toward the Grand Strand. Along coastal areas, thunderstorms have been pushing onshore, delivering bursts of downpours.

Most of the Midlands have seen rainfall totals ranging from a quarter of an inch to about an inch and a half, especially near I-20 and points east.

Unfortunately, the rain isn’t quite finished.

A tropical-type low off the Carolina coast, positioned offshore from Myrtle Beach, is slowly moving northward. This weather system is expected to strengthen into a nor’easter , continuing to deliver periodic moderate to heavy showers throughout Sunday as it makes its way to the Mid-Atlantic and New England.
