Gary Neville has been backed by one of his former Valencia players to replace Ruben Amorim as Manchester United boss. Despite a disastrous stint in the dugout for the Spanish outfit in 2015, Alvaro Negredo believes the former defender would be a suitable candidate for the head coach position at Old Trafford .

Neville was sacked by Valencia after just 28 games, during which they won only three in La Liga . Speaking to Coin Poker , Negredo explained why the Sky Sports pundit would be a good fit.

The former Manchester City striker said: "It also depends on the situation at Manchester United. I think he was a very important player for Manchester United.

"He's a player who gave a lot to English football. Perhaps, similar to Valencia at that time , it's a United team
