English football's 40-year ban on alcohol might have just been broken with the help of a 50-metre crane.

Two Salford City fans, alongside social creators Tom Garratt and Tom Nestor, took to the skies on Saturday to watch the club's League Two match at Chesterfield with shots of Fireball Whisky.

Orchestrated by the liqueur company, their 'Hottest Seat in Football' campaign takes place on the 40th anniversary of football's 1985 alcohol ban, amid calls for the legislation to be reviewed.

They claim these are the first supporters to legally watch an English Football League match live while consuming alcohol in four decades.
