All 16 people inside the building that exploded at Accurate Energetic Systems Oct. 10 are dead, Humphreys County Sheriff Chris Davis said at an Oct. 11 press conference.
“I can tell you at this time, we have notified all 16 families of those people that we feel (were) involved in this situation, this tragedy,” Davis said during an emotional evening press briefing outside the AES facility gates. It was the second such briefing of the day.
The names and ages of the victims are expected to be released in the next 24 hours, the sheriff said.
Originally, local and state officials had the number of missing listed at 19 before dropping the number to 18 and then 16. The difference in number, Davis explained, was because a vehicle and personal items were found on the scene and they were unable t
